The Modern Sales Corporation (MSC) Minor Midget AAA Colts got the job done against the ir arch rivals from York-Simcoe Express on Tuesday night at the Barrie Molson Centre. The game that may be the difference for first place ended, was tight and was tied with 10 minutes remaining in the game. It ended 5-3 in favour of the Colts after James Mense-Dietrich scored the winner and Dakota Hynes iced it with an empty net marker. The penalty filled affair saw each team score twice on the power play. Ian Andriano got the win between the pipes. Ben Hughes had three assists; Ben Skuce scored a pair of goals while Dakota Hynes added an assist. Drake Board rounded out the scoring. Cray Roberge, Nick Chaykowsky and Devon Gillham chipped in with assists.

Barrie also scored a 4-1 victory over the South Central Coyotes on the weekend. T.J. Sherwood was solid in the Barrie net for the win. Braydon Laurin (1G, 1A), Hynes (1G, 1A) and Roberge (3A) played strong games. Hughes and Mense-Dietrich found the back of the net for the Colts, while Ryan Hyndman and Ryan Young added helpers.

Barrie remains in first place in the West Division of the ETA and will need to continue their strong play this weekend as they meet up with the Central Ontario Wolves for a Home-and-Home series Saturday and Sunday, and a game at the Markham Waxers, Monday night.

Thanks to Janet Andriano for the update.
