The MSC Minor Midget Barrie Colts won their first ever OMHA series this week, beating the Markham Waxers in game 5. The final score was 6-2 with three empty net markers in the final 2 minutes. Until that time it was a fast end-to-end affair. James Mense-Dietrich opened the scoring from Dakota Hynes. Max Healy put the Colts ahead again on a beautiful feed from Devon Gillham. Ben Skuce potted the winner from Healy. Ryan Young cemented the victory, twice, with a pair of empty Net goals. Austin Fischer added another insurance marker. T.J. Sherwood was outstanding in net for the win.

Barrie scored a 6-0 shutout victory in the first game of the OMHA playoffs in Markham. Ben Skuce clicked into overdrive with a pair of goals and an assist. Ben Hughes had three assists while Max Healy scored twice and Cray Roberge had a goal and an assist. Ian Andriano stopped 20 shots and added an assist. Austin Fischer scored and also added an assist. James Mense-Dietrich added a helper.

Markham tied the series in game two with a 3-1 victory. Drake Board scored Barrie’s only goal from Young and Gillham.

Barrie dropped a 4-3 decision on Saturday to fall behind in the series. Gillham, Healy and Brayden Laurin scored. Young, Mense-Dietrich, Fischer and Hynes added helpers.

With their backs to the wall, the Colts headed back to Markham for their biggest game of the season. The game was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time. Ben Hughes broke the tie on a great play by Young to even the series. Young opened the scoring unassissted. Skuce also scored from Mense-Dietrich and Healy.

Barrie will face the Whitby Wildcats in the next round of the OMHA playoffs, and the series will kick-off Saturday February 25, 2012 at the Innisfil Rec Centre Red at 7:00 pm, the rest of the playoff schedule is as follows;
