Colts 1st in ETA West and Extend Streak to 19

The Modern Sales Cooperative Minor Midget AAA Barrie Colts closed out their regular season with a 19 game undefeated streak and in sole possession of first place. The Colts who haven’t lost since November 19, 2011. finished off the season with 22 Wins, 5 loses and 7 ties for 51 points and First place in the ETA – West Division.

In the final four games, Barrie has beaten Ajax-Pickering Raiders twice in a home-and-home affair as well as the North Central Predators and the South Central Coyotes.

Max Healy led the way at home against Ajax with a goal and an assist, Drake Board scored a pair and Ben Skuce added a goal and an assist. Ryan Hyndman rounded out the scoring. Ian Andriano was solid between the pipes for the win. Ryan Young, Cray Roberge, Ryan Marks, James Mense-Dietrich and Austin Fischer added assists.

Back in Ajax, the feel was similar as Barrie skated to a 5-3 victory. Board had three points (2G, 1A), Young, Hyndman and Roberge chipped in with singles. Nick Chaykowsky, Marks and Skuce added helpers.

The Colts clinched first place, beating the North Central Predators 9-5 in a chippy affair. The Predators were fighting for a playoff spot and opened the scoring early. Barrie answered back with three but the game was tied at 4’s early in the third period. Barrie hit the board five more times to outdistance their opponent. The big scorers, did just that, with Healy getting two goals and two assists while Mense-Dietrich scored once and setting up two more. Sean Anderson, Roberge and Ben Hughes each had 1 goal and 1 assist. Devon Gillham, Hyndman and Dakota Hynes rounded out the offense. Quade Butler, Young, Skuce, Board and Marks each added helpers.

Barrie handled the South Central Coyotes 4-2 in a final game that had no significance. It was a disciplined affair with T.J. Sherwood adding to the “win” column. Gillham had a pair of goals while Young added a pair of assists. Hyndman and Chaykowsky added single goals. Healy, Butler and Board added assists.

Barrie will face the Markham Waxers in the first round of the OMHA playoffs, and the Playoffs will kick-off Tuesday February 14, 2012 at the Barrie Molson Centre at 6:30 pm, the rest of the playoff schedule is as follows;
